Errand & Escort volunteers provide assistance to patient and their family members, visitors, hospital employees and other customers which results in the enhancement of the quality of care delivered. Volunteers answer incoming phone calls and in rotation, perform errands as requested which may include the following:
- Transport patients from one location within the hospital to another, or to the exits upon discharge
- Transport specimens to the Laboratory
- Pick up and deliver medical records
- Deliver food trays and nourishments
- Deliver supplies from Central Processing and Distribution to units
- Assist in way-finding for visitors and patients
